This is used for the subject in the sentence. The subject is the person performing the action, the doer. The sentence will have an action (verb). प्रथमा विभक्ति is used when mentioning the person performing that action.

    • Sri Krishna speaks.
    • Sri Krishna is the doer of the action (of speaking). Hence, प्रथमा विभक्ति is used for Sri Krishna. The प्रथमा विभक्ति एकवचन form of श्रीकृष्ण is श्रीकृष्णः .
  • बालकः खादति ।
    • The boy eats.
    • The action is that of eating. And the boy is the doer of the action. Hence, प्रथमा विभक्ति is used for the boy. The प्रथमा विभक्ति एकवचन form of बालक is बालकः .
  • छात्रः पठति ।
    • The student reads/studies.
    • The verb (action) is to read or to study. And the student is the one doing that. Hence, प्रथमा विभक्ति is used for the student. The प्रथमा विभक्ति एकवचन form of छात्र is छात्रः .
